Say hello (again) to Camp Lone Tree

Hello friends of Lone Tree! As I'm sure you've noticed there have been a lot of changes with our beloved camp over the past few years, and with the Spirit Foundation as well. As most of you know Lone Tree Scout Reservation was sold by the Spirit of Adventure Council in 2022. This made our mission a little harder because it was no longer a youth-centered camp. This site and our online presence as a whole fell by the wayside as our path forward was unclear. We also experienced some devastating, although expected, losses with the passing of Dick Sanders and Dick Preble among other familiar names. Well... we're back! In July of 2026 Lone Tree Summer Camp / Lone Tree Camp & Cabins was purchased by our new friend David and is now Camp Lone Tree! Camp Lone Tree is already involving many members of Lone Tree Spirit Foundation in its creation and will be focused on youth organizations, starting with getting scouting units back in camp. The plan is to build a non-profit that supports youth development and community engagement. The board for this endeavor is not yet formed, and the website and booking system are still in the works, but troops are beginning to book sites for this fall through contacting camp directly or Annie Taylor, a long time fixture at Lone Tree and the new acting Camp Director. In addition to Annie's involvement Don Doughty, a long time Friend of Lone Tree, is the acting Ranger under the direction of our very own Harry Taylor. The former LTSR Ranger, our very own HT is now Camp Lone Tree's Lead Volunteer!

Troop and Pack 40, Commissioner, Ship 1791 “I was on staff in the 1990’s, I took a 25 year hiatus from boy scouts. Joined the army, had a family, my son got to be scout age and wasn’t interested so that time passed. Once he was 18 and out of the house I decided it was time to start scouting in my town again. About that time I got an email from Lone Tree Spirit foundation inviting me to one of their get togethers and when I showed up the camp director found out I was on staff in the 90’s and invited me back on staff. So I became the archery director again so definitely a home away from home. As a young man I spent 4 full summers here at LoneTree, as a camper, CIT, Eagle Week, Brownsea Island training. All here at Lone Tree so it definitely has a very special place in my heart and I’m glad to come back whenever we can.”

LTSF, Troop 5 “Lone Tree is embedded in my blood. I’ve been coming here since I was 8 or younger. Cub Scouts with my grandparents and parents. I came here for years and years. Basically a piece of me now. I hope my kids want to come here, I try to show them all the excitement, bring them here, show them what service projects are all about and helping other people. Trying to do your turn, you know the good turn daily. The fires at the end of every scout week you see what the unity is all about. That ambiance sticks with you for the long haul.”
